No Blood, No Tears

The clock is ticking for 23 South Koreans, kidnapped by Taliban affiliated terrorists. It is unclear what will be the outcome of this grave incident. The forces are standing by as multi-Government negotiations are going on. It is an international mess. A google news search reveals that there are several thousands of news items on this issue. Surprisingly, this incident has attracted little coverage in Indian media.

The Koreans were reportedly on a humanitarian mission and consisted of young men and women, mostly English teachers and paramedics. It may be noted that South Korea has some military technicians deployed in Iraq.

In many ways this is a bad move by the Taliban, one that they may come to regret in the days to come. South Korea is a very strong nation today, with a vibrant economy and a solid education system. The country has seen extreme savagery in the recent past in the form of wars. There is constant tension with the "friendly" neighbors in the North. I am not sure this incident will go down well with the Koreans.

[No Blood, No Tears is a popular Korean movie. Korea has a strong movie industry and Bollywood has adapted at least two from the South Korean stable - Zinda (Oldboy) and Awarapan (A bittersweet life). The lead actress from this movie, Jeon Do Yeon, won the best actress award in the recent Cannes festival.]

Hi,

Hmm, clearing the cache does not work. It happens with all blogspot blogs. Other pages with images work fine.

And it opens fine with IE 7. This is failing only in firefox ..

I see the verification image for commenting here, in the popup. But no images on the main page.
