Its that time of the year again. Wine sipping, art-for-arts sake loving journalist types, have to just lie low and stay quiet for a while. It seems we cant paint mughal emperors in India - unless the painting glorifies them. No goons wont attack you, the government will shut down the entire exhibition. [link]The paintings in question depict the historically accurate demolition of Hindu temples (a process nowadays known as secularism) during the time of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
This incident did not attract much coverage. Compare and contrast with the Baroda MS University fiasco (thousands of reports, articles, editorials, blogs, TV shows that continue till today).

it is because they were asked to vacate. no one came with a sword and ripped open the artist or burned every one alive as they do in gujarat the holy land of barbarindian
Advani was languishing in a jail in Bihar when the masjid came down. In any case, the masjid had been built on another "structure".
They were not simply asked to vacate, several paintings were damaged beyond repair. The exhibition hall remained under lock and key. Also, several women were illegally detained without being charged for several hours. You know what can potentially happen when women are taken to the police station like this, don't you? This process is well documented in the novel The God of small things.
The Asst Comm of Police removed the paintings from the wall.
The same exibition was shown in Pune (apparently lakhs saw it), Bangalore and Delhi.
Anyway social activists are in for a tough time. It is now they have to fulfil their ultimate task for which they were raised and pampered.
They have to collectively combine their genius, their media clout, and divert/distract those who want data and not short documentaries.
Cos, once the data thing trickles down to the stone breaker's kid - things are going downhill.

The artist at Baroda had painted Jesus over a toilet bowl and Christians attacked him.
Forget that little incident?
Yeah, Modi was really really pissed to see Jesus pissing right?
