What's wrong if you can't speak flowery English? India has been broguth to ruin by English-only toffs - Nehru chiefly. The current day know nothings are all English-only - Romila Thapar, Meera Nanda, Ram Guha etc.,
I am surprised at Somath Chatterjee's fluency in Hindi. No doubt must be learned from his father - the late Nirmal Chandra Chattopadhyay of the Hindu Mahasabha - indomitable anti-Nazi and anti-Commie activist.
I suspect he plays the buffoon on purpose.
