So, India celebrated a massively state funded women's day with a special emphasis from the Bangalore hit job unit. Seminars, lectures plenty, special issues, articles etc. flew freely.
Funny, the topic of a woman winning the Indian Idol for the first time was not discussed, at least not in the context of women's day.
One possible explanation is that they didn't want to dilute the message with the Indian Idol stuff. Elections are coming up. Of course, it didn't help that the girl has a Hindu name.
