The commission said that the girl agreed to marry the accused as she did not have any alternative. It was also revealed that the family of the accused had contacted Shobha and got her converted to Islam. The victim had claimed she was totally misguided both by her family and the legal advise she had received, said the commission. DCW chairperson Barkha Singh said this case was with the commission, but Momin's family put pressure on the victim and made her file an application in court that she was willing to marry him.
The incident happened in 2005 when Momin, Shobha's neighbour, called her to his house on some false pretext, drugged her and then raped her. [link]
