ALLAHABAD: Curfew was relaxed on Sunday in Allahabad, which witnessed large scale rioting over alleged desecration of the Geeta on Saturday.
Scores of Hindus in Allahabad went on rampage on Saturday, pelting stones and destroying public property in the communally sensitive town after they found a torn and damaged Geeta in a Temple.
Police were forced to place certain areas under curfew to curb large-scale vandalism.
With tempers ebbing on Sunday, police lifted curfew in certain areas for two hours for locals to buy their daily essentials. [link]
