CNN-IBN signs the CTBT

CNN-IBN editor Surya Gangadharan hosted a chat show in which he answered various questions from readers on behalf of the Government. A sample from the transcript:

Vijay: Any reverse affects if Obama comes to power?
Surya Gangadharan: He will be tough on non proliferation, may insist on India signing the CTBT (which we probably will next year).

Can anyone point out any other democracy at any time in history where citizens were so empowered? We can give Azadi to parts of India (too bad they didn't want it in the end). We can also unilaterally sign important international treaties on behalf of the Government.

Come to think of it, the recent events are pretty consistent with if Arundhati Roy were India's Home Minister and External Affairs Ministers rolled into one.
